Pune/Sunayana Sonwane: An unforgettable ceremony of bravery, discipline and pride took place at Khetrapal Maidan on Saturday (30th). The passionate renditions of ‘Kadam Kadam Badhaye Ja’, ‘Saare Jahan Se Achcha’ and ‘Hum NDA Ke Cadet Hain’ (Indian Army) as the area was swept away, the ground was overwhelmed by the footsteps of students in crisp white uniforms marching forward with stiff necks and confidence. After three years of rigorous training National Defense Prabodhini353 students of the historic 150th batch of (NDA) crossed the ‘last step’ and entered a new era of national service.

The ceremony was held at Arun Khetrapal Maidan in Khadakwasla in the presence of Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi. A large number of senior military officers and parents of the students were present along with Chief of Army South Headquarters Lt. Gen. Sandeep Jain, Commandant of NDA Vice Admiral Anil Jaggi, Deputy Commandant and Chief Instructor Air Vice Marshal Rajesh Verma. General Dwivedi inspected the procession and accepted the salute.

The 150th batch of 353 students included 18 female students and 24 foreign students from 12 allied countries. The parade was led by Academy Cadet Captain Mayank Chaudhary, while Lt Col Avinash Pandey led the movement on the horse ‘Reliant Robin’.

Guiding the students, General Dwivedi said, attitude, adaptability and skill are the trinity of a successful army officer. Good decision-making and adaptability are essential in a rapidly changing war environment. Referring to ‘Operation Sindoor’, he referred to India’s concrete and precise response to provocations and urged future officials to uphold this standard.

Gender discrimination has no place on the battlefield. Only skill, character and leadership matter there. He also mentioned that it is the need of the hour for men and women officers to serve the country shoulder to shoulder. He believed that the motto ‘Seva Paramo Dharma:’ would be a guide in every difficult situation. Celebrating the contribution of parents behind the success of students, the day is as much about the students as it is about their parents. He congratulated the parents saying that your sacrifice is reflected in their every step.

Breathtaking salute of Sukhoi and Chetak –

The convocation concluded with a breath-taking salute from the Sukhoi-30 fighter jets, the flagship of the Indian Air Force. The thundering sound of the Sukhoi-30 taking off from the Sudan block of the NDA created excitement on the part of the attendees. Before that, the Chetak helicopter which appeared in the sky attracted the attention of the attendees.
