Fire in Delhi’s Education Ministry building: AAP and Congress raised questions, fear of OSM documents being burnt
There was chaos on Monday morning due to a fire on the second floor of the office located in the School of Planning and Architecture (SPA) campus located on Vikas Marg in the capital Delhi. As soon as the information was received, 8 fire brigade vehicles reached the spot and after much effort the fire was brought under control. After the incident, smoke spread across the entire area and the building was evacuated due to security reasons. According to preliminary information, the cause of the fire is not yet known and the concerned agencies are engaged in the investigation. Meanwhile, former Chief Minister of Delhi and Aam Aadmi Party leader Atishi has expressed serious concern about this incident. He has expressed apprehension that in this fire incident, important documents or records related to CBSE’s ‘On-Screen Marking (OSM)’ system may have been affected.
According to Atishi, there is already a situation of controversy across the country regarding the OSM system. He also claimed that around 20 cases of swapping of answer sheets have been reported under this system, while around 13,000 answer sheets had to be checked manually. Atishi has raised questions regarding this incident on social media platform X. He has expressed apprehension that the documents or tender records related to CBSE’s OSM (On-Screen Marking) system might have been affected in this fire. In his post, Atishi also asked whether important tender documents related to the alleged OSM scam were “mysteriously” destroyed in the fire.

According to the fire officer, Delhi Fire Service received information about the fire at around 9:37 am. After this, relief and rescue teams were immediately dispatched. Fire brigade personnel made continuous efforts on the spot to control the fire. During the incident, the building was evacuated due to security reasons.
Criticism of CBSE
The controversy regarding CBSE’s On-Screen Marking (OSM) system is continuously deepening in the capital. Meanwhile, senior Aam Aadmi Party leader and former Delhi Education Minister Manish Sisodia has also raised questions on the functioning of CBSE on this issue. Sisodia alleged that students are facing serious problems due to irregularities in the marking process. Posting on social media platform ‘X’, he said that many students and parents are upset with the alleged “CBSE marking scam”. He raised the question as to why such a situation is arising which affects the future of the children, in which the hard work of the students is not being properly evaluated. According to Sisodia, students’ results have been affected due to alleged irregularities in the evaluation process and parents are also facing continuous complaints and confusion.
Congress leader Pawan Kheda has raised questions while commenting on this incident on social media platform ‘X’. He wrote that “the fire reached the Ministry of Education before the investigation could be conducted” and called it an “amazing coincidence.”

RJD leader Manoj Jha has raised many questions while reacting to this incident on social media platform ‘X’. He said that amid serious concerns related to the education system such as credibility of examinations, irregularities in results and questions being raised about the future of students, the news of fire in the education department building cannot be considered normal. Manoj Jha said in his statement that at a time when accountability and transparency are most needed in the education system, such an incident raises many serious questions. He has demanded an impartial, thorough and timely investigation into the matter, so that the truth can be revealed and public trust can be maintained.
