After this decision, the victim’s family has heaved a sigh of relief and the people of the area have appreciated this step of the court.
The brutal incident was captured on CCTV
This entire incident took place on May 30 this year in Yadav Colony of Shikohabad. Accused Viraj alias Jitendra Pathak, resident of Badaun, kidnapped one and a half year old Aarav and then brought him on the road. What the accused did after this should make anyone’s heart tremble. Accused Viraj threw the innocent child on the road eight times one after the other within just 30 seconds. This entire painful incident was captured in a CCTV camera installed there. The child was taken to the hospital in critical condition, but doctors declared him dead. After the video of this incident surfaced, there was huge anger in the entire area.
Police and court showed record breaking speed
After the murder of innocent Aarav, the police immediately came into action and arrested the accused Viraj Pathak. Seeing the seriousness of the matter and the anger of the people, the police worked day and night and filed the charge sheet in the court within just 6 days. After this, the case was heard daily in the District and Sessions Court. On the basis of witnesses and evidence, the district judge found accused Viraj guilty and sentenced him to death. The decision of hanging within 40 days of the incident is being considered a big step in terms of law and order.
Claim of love affair and blackmailing
The story of love affair and mutual dispute has come to light behind this horrific murder. Accused Viraj Pathak claimed that he was having an affair with the child’s mother and the woman was blackmailing him. Due to this controversy, he took this dreadful step. On the other hand, the mother of the deceased child said that Viraj was pressurizing her to marry. He considered his one and a half year old son Aarav as a thorn in his side. On the day of the incident, when the child’s mother had gone to a relative’s house, Viraj took the child with himself on the pretext of getting toffee and killed him.
I called my brother and said – I was cheated
Accused Viraj Pathak is originally a resident of Badaun. His three brothers Sonu, Rajiv and Munish have told many things about his life. According to the brothers, after the death of their father in 2010, the financial condition of their house had deteriorated. Due to this, Viraj had to leave his studies midway. He first started taxi work by driving a Maruti van and later started opening a small grocery shop near his house. The brothers told that after killing the innocent, Viraj had called his elder brother Rajiv. He was crying badly on the phone and all he said was that he had been cheated a lot.
The family also protested against Viraj’s actions.
The most surprising thing in this case was that even Viraj’s own family did not support him. His brothers said in clear words that whatever Viraj has done is very wrong and dreadful. This cruelty done to a one and a half year old innocent child cannot be justified in any way. The family said that the punishment given to him by the law is the result of his deeds. This decision has sent a strong message to the society that the law never spares those who commit atrocities against innocent people.
