Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi has hit out at the central government after a 25-year-old woman was booked for allegedly making objectionable remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a protest at Jantar Mantar . In a social media post, he accused the Modi government of trying to suppress the voice of the youth.

Rahul Gandhi, in his post, targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, saying, “You cannot silence ‘Generation Z’ by threatening them. First you broke their bones, now you are filing an FIR against them. You are India’s past. Be careful how you treat India’s future.”

The case is related to the protest at Jantar Mantar on July 23. During the protest, a young woman has been accused of using allegedly offensive language against the Prime Minister. A Zero FIR has been registered at the Noida Expressway police station in this regard and it has been transferred to the Parliament Street police station in Delhi for further investigation.
CJP also objects to the action
Meanwhile, the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), which supports the agitation, has also objected to this action. Party spokesperson Saurabh Das admitted that the statement was not appropriate, but clarified that it is not right to use the criminal mechanism in such a case. He said that although there are legal options available for abusive statements, taking strict criminal action against the agitators is not right in the eyes of democracy.
At the same time, he appealed to the youth to exercise restraint in their words on public platforms. He also expressed the hope that the police should implement the law impartially without working under any political pressure.
On the other hand, the Delhi government has made it clear that strict legal action will not be taken against protesters who do not have a criminal background in cases related to the protests. The issue has caught the attention of political circles as the demand to avoid action against the protesters is one of the key demands of the CJP.
