New Delhi .The club of films earning Rs 1000 crore in Indian cinema has now become the main success benchmark at the box office. There was a time when South Cinema seemed to dominate the films reaching this level, but in the last few years many films of Hindi Cinema have also crossed this figure. The special thing about the current list is that Bollywood and South cinema have equal share in the films earning more than Rs 1000 crore. Five films each from both the industries are included in this club. However, when we compare the total earnings of five films, Bollywood is ahead.
The Rs 1000 crore club in Indian cinema was started with SS Rajamouli's 'Baahubali 2: The Conclusion'. This Prabhas starrer film, released in 2017, crossed the Rs 1000 crore mark at the box office. After this, many big films made it to this club and this figure emerged as an important milestone in the earnings of Indian films.
In the current list, 'Kalki' is at tenth place with the earning of Rs 1042 crore. The film starring Prabhas, Deepika Padukone and Amitabh Bachchan was released in 2024. At ninth place is Shahrukh Khan and Deepika Padukone's 'Pathan', which earned Rs 1055 crore. This film, released in 2023, was directed by Siddharth Anand.
Shahrukh Khan's 'Jawaan' is at eighth place with a collection of Rs 1160 crore. Many actors including Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi and Riddhi Dogra were seen in this film, released in 2023. Yash's 'KGF 2' is at seventh place with earnings of Rs 1215 crore. This film was released in 2022.
At sixth place is SS Rajamouli's 'RRR', which collected Rs 1230 crore. The film starred Ram Charan, Jr. NTR and Alia Bhatt in lead roles. At fifth place is Ranveer Singh's 'Dhurandhar', whose earning is said to be Rs 1307 crore. The film was released in December 2025 and was directed by Aditya Dhar.
'Pushpa 2' is at fourth place with a collection of Rs 1788 crore. This film starring Allu Arjun was released in 2024 and was directed by Sukumar. With the earning of Rs 1788 crore, 'Baahubali 2' is at third place.
Ranveer Singh's 'Dhurandhar 2' is at second place. Released in March 2026, this film collected Rs 1813 crore. In this, actors like R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt and Sara Arjun were seen along with Ranveer Singh.
At the top is Aamir Khan's 'Dangal', which earned Rs 2070 crore. The film, released in 2016, also starred Fatima Sana Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra in lead roles.

If we look at the total earning figures, five Bollywood films 'Dangal', 'Dhurandhar 2', 'Dhurandhar', 'Jawaan' and 'Pathan' together earn Rs 7405 crore. Whereas the total collection of South's 'Bahubali 2', 'Pushpa 2', 'RRR', 'KGF 2' and 'Kalki' is Rs 7017 crore. That is, despite the same number of films, there is a difference of Rs 388 crore in the total earnings of both the groups.
