Kathmandu. There was chaos in Tribhuvan Trishuli Secondary School located in Bidur due to sudden rise in the water level of Trishuli River in Nuwakot, Nepal on Wednesday morning. At the time when the flood warning was received, about 1643 students were studying in the school. After receiving information about river flooding at 9:15 am, the school administration immediately started sending students to safe places. Just 10 minutes later at 9:25, the strong flow of the river and a huge wave reached the area around the school.

Sent students to safe place in time-
According to Principal Rajendra Dawadi, studies were going on normally in the school in the morning. Suddenly there was news of heavy flood in Trishuli river. The school administration instructed the students to go to safe places without any delay. Due to this prompt action, a large number of students were taken out of danger.

The Principal said that many students going towards the colony are safe. He himself is present at a safe place along with about 35 to 40 students and local people. However, complete information about the status of all the students is not yet available.

Concern about students crossing the bridge to go home-
Some time before the flood, some students had crossed the bridge of Trishuli river and left for home. These are said to include students going towards Battar, Bidur Bazar and Dhunge. During this time, the water level of the river rose rapidly and the bridge also came under flood.

In such a situation, some students who crossed the bridge are feared missing. However, it is not yet clear how many students have not reached home.

Mobile network and electricity disrupted, contact with parents difficult –
There have been reports of electricity and mobile networks being affected in many areas of Nuwakot due to floods. Due to this, it has become difficult for the school administration to contact students and their parents.

According to the Principal, at present it remains a challenge to confirm whether all the students who left for home from school have reached their homes safely or not.

There was panic in the entire area-
After the sudden flood in Trishuli river, the situation in Bidur and surrounding areas has become very worrying. Due to the presence of a large number of students in the school, it remains a big challenge for the administration to ensure their safety and confirm the condition of everyone. At present, efforts are being made to gather information through students and local people present at safe places.
