Flydubai stops all flights to Tel Aviv, decision taken after failed hijack attempt

Dubai. The airline has temporarily canceled all its flights to Tel Aviv after an alleged failed attempt to hijack a flydubai flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv. This decision was taken after the incident related to flight number FZ 1073 on September 30. The airline has informed that on the instructions of the authorities, the operation of flights will be stopped till further notice.

Flydubai said in its statement that its teams are working to assist passengers affected by the flight cancellations and get them to their destinations. The airline's Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Gail Al Ghaith said that an official investigation into the matter is underway and the company is providing full cooperation to the investigating agencies.




  • 172 passengers and crew members safe

    Giving information regarding the incident, airline CEO Gail Al Ghaith said that all 172 passengers and crew members on board the plane are safe. He also informed that Captain Smit Machar, who was affected by the incident, has been sent back to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) after getting medical clearance.

    Gaith praised the pilots and other crew members, including Captain Smit Machar, for keeping the aircraft safe and saving the lives of the passengers. He also thanked the passengers who remained patient and helped the crew during the emergency.

    The CEO said he appreciated the professionalism and dedication of the Captain and pilots who kept the aircraft safe and ensured its safe landing. He also praised the efforts of the cabin crew.

    Awaiting the results of the official investigation

    Gal Al Ghaith said that many questions are being raised regarding the incident that happened on Flight FZ 1073. A detailed official investigation into the matter is being led by the relevant authorities and flydubai is fully cooperating with it.

    He said that it is necessary to let the investigation be completed to find out the real circumstances of the incident. At present, the ban on flights to Tel Aviv continues and further information from the airline regarding their resumption is awaited.
