The former bowler, who contested as the Bharatiya Janata Party candidate in the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections, has won a landslide victory from the Moyna seat. He has defeated TMC candidate Chandan Mandal.

According to the Election Commission report, former Indian fast bowler Ashok Dinda has received more than 1 lakh 27 thousand votes and he has won by gaining a lead of about 16 thousand votes. Let us tell you, former cricketer Dinda has won from Moyna seat for the second consecutive time. In the year 2021, he retired from cricket and entered politics. In the same year he joined BJP and became an active face of West Bengal politics. Dinda contested the Bengal Assembly elections 2021 from Moyna seat, where he defeated Sangram Dolui of Trinamool Congress by 1260 votes.

Ashok Dinda Cricket Career
Talking about the cricket career of 42-year-old former Indian fast bowler Ashok Dinda, his career could not last long. Dinda, who made his international debut for Team India against Sri Lanka in 2009, has played only 22 matches for India. After 2013, he did not get a chance to play in the Indian team. This right-handed batsman has played a total of 13 ODI matches for India, in which he took 12 wickets. Apart from this, he has taken 17 wickets in 9 T20 International matches.
Dinda’s performance in domestic cricket has been excellent. He has 420 wickets in his name in 116 first class matches. Apart from this, he has taken 151 wickets in 98 List A matches. In IPL, he has played a total of 78 matches representing 5 teams, in which he has taken a total of 69 wickets in his name.
