Anoop Verma had shared a collage of pictures of Rahul Gandhi and Ajmal Kasab on X on Tuesday. In the pictures, Rahul Gandhi and Kasab were seen carrying bags. In the post he wrote that the person on the left is more dangerous for India. There was a picture of Rahul Gandhi on the left side of the collage.

Political controversy started after this post surfaced. The legal cell of Congress Seva Dal has filed a cyber complaint regarding the matter and has said that it will pursue it through appropriate legal channels.
What did Congress Seva Dal say?
The Legal Cell of Congress Seva Dal said that any malicious or illegal action targeting the Congress Party and its leaders or members will not be tolerated. The organization said it is committed to challenging every illegal act that seeks to defame constitutional positions, defame Congress leaders or equate democratic dissent with terrorism.
Congress Seva Dal also mentioned the provisions related to freedom of expression under Article 19 of the Constitution. Also said that some restrictions apply on this freedom under the law. According to the legal cell, it will take recourse to legal remedies available under the Constitution, Indian Code of Justice (BNS) and applicable cyber laws. The organization said that no one is above the law and accountability should be ensured through proper legal process.

Retired IAF officer also expressed objection
Retired Indian Air Force officer Sergeant Karmaveer Singh also reacted to Anup Verma's post. He said that Rahul Gandhi is being compared to a convicted terrorist and informed that a cyber complaint has been filed in this matter. Singh said political disagreement is part of democracy, but respect and decency should not be compromised. Criticizing Verma, he said that the opposition leader can be criticized, but such comparisons should not be made. He also said that there can be deep political differences in a democracy, but stooping to this level harms basic human decency and democratic values.
Karmaveer Singh also mentioned 'Matthew VanDyke' case
A Delhi court had granted default bail to VanDyke on September 18. It had come before the court that the NIA charge sheet contained sections of the Immigration and Foreigners Act, but did not include sections of the UAPA. The court held that the investigation was not completed within the stipulated legal period. After getting bail, all the foreign accused have left India. Citing the VanDyke case, Karmaveer Singh accused Anup Verma of 'selective patriotism'.
Who was Ajmal Kasab?
Ajmal Kasab was the only terrorist captured alive during the November 2008 Mumbai terror attacks. In these attacks that took place in Mumbai between 26 and 29 November, 10 terrorists carried out the attacks in a coordinated manner. During this period, 166 people died and 238 people were injured. Kasab was captured alive by security forces, while the remaining nine attackers were killed during the operation.

The Mumbai special court had convicted Kasab and sentenced him to death. Bombay High Court also upheld this sentence. On August 29, 2012, the Supreme Court rejected his appeal and confirmed the death sentence. Kasab was convicted of several crimes, including murder and waging war against the Indian government. He was hanged in Yerwada Central Jail, Pune on 21 November 2012 during the Congress government.
