Shivpal Singh Banned for 10 Years: NADA has imposed a 10-year ban on Shivpal Singh, who represented India in the Tokyo Olympics. This 31-year-old javelin thrower has been accused of doping for the second time, due to which the authorities have given him severe punishment. Shivpal won the gold medal for India in the Asian Championship held in Doha in 2019 and was also a part of the Olympics. He has again violated the rules, due to which NADA has taken strict action against him.
Shivpal Singh banned
Former Tokyo Olympian Shivpal Singh has been found positive for using anabolic steroid methandienone. This is the second time that he has been found guilty on doping charges. For this reason, the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) has banned him for 10 years. This ban on Shivpal Singh can end his competitive career. It will not be possible for 31 year old Shivpal to perform like that after 10 years.
There were bans earlier too
In 2021, Shivpal Singh was caught in doping case. In the general test conducted outside the tournament, steroids were found in Shivpal Singh’s blood. For this reason, the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) had banned him for four years in August 2022. However, Shivpal Singh placed the challenge before the appeal panel of NADA.
Shivpal claimed that he was found positive due to using adulterated supplements. After this his ban was reduced from 4 years to 1 year. Shivpal Singh made a comeback in April 2023 and won the bronze medal in the National Inter-State Championship and then he was successful in winning the gold medal in the National Games. However, after being accused of doping for the second time, the comeback of this athlete now seems difficult.
