Kannauj. Amidst heavy rain on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway, a Fortuner car went out of control and broke the divider fencing and overturned in the other lane. After the accident, five people in the car got trapped inside. Meanwhile, a couple of UP Police constables who were passing by immediately stopped their car and started rescue operations. When the window of the car could not be opened, the constable broke the window with the help of his service rifle and took out all the five people.
The accident happened amidst heavy rain
The incident took place around 2 pm on Friday afternoon near kilometer 171 of the Agra-Lucknow Expressway in Talgram area of Kannauj. The Fortuner was going from Lucknow to Noida. Due to sudden rain and high speed, the driver lost control of the vehicle.
The uncontrolled car broke about 20 meters of divider fencing, reached the other lane and then overturned. All five people in the car were injured in the accident.
Five people including District Panchayat President injured
Sultanpur District Panchayat President Usha Singh, driver Vikas Yadav, Ayush Verma, head constable Arvind Kumar and Geetanjali Singh were traveling in the car.
Everyone got trapped inside the car after the accident. Three injured were sent to the Medical College in Tirwa due to serious injuries, while other injured were also treated.
Policeman and wife were passing through the road
Meanwhile, woman constable Archana Singh posted at Asha Jyoti Center in Kannauj was going from Saurikh to Kannauj with her husband constable Amit Tewatia. Seeing the overturned Fortuner, both of them immediately stopped the vehicle and reached the spot.
With people trapped inside the car, he started the rescue operation without wasting any time. When the doors did not open, Amit Tewatia broke the glass of the car with the help of his service rifle. After this, both of them took out the five people one by one.
Archana informed the control room
Archana Singh along with the rescue informed the control room about the accident. As soon as the information was received, ambulance, local police and UPEDA team reached the spot. The injured were taken to the hospital.
The video of the rescue operation also surfaced, in which the policeman couple is seen pulling people out of the crashed car. After the video surfaced, the promptness and wisdom of both the policemen are being discussed.
Major disaster averted with timely help
In this accident that happened during the rain, the car overturned in the other lane and people got trapped in it. The situation was serious. The constable couple passing by the spot started relief work without wasting time, due to which the five injured could be taken out of the car.
The accident is being investigated and initially the driver losing control due to heavy rain and vehicle speed is said to be the cause of the accident.
