Four members of a Hindu family brutally murdered in Bangladesh

Dhaka: The bodies of a retired Hindu school teacher, his wife, daughter and 12-year-old son were found in their locked house under suspicious circumstances in Rangpur city, according to media reports. The police have started a detailed investigation into the incident. According to a report in The Daily Star, the bodies were found from a house in Daspara (Machhuapara) area of ​​the city around 11:30 pm on Saturday. Officer-in-charge of Rangpur Metropolitan Kotwali Police Station Nazmul Quader said police entered the locked house and recovered the bodies. The deceased have been identified as retired school teacher Ganapathy Chakraborty (65), his wife Prithila Chakraborty (50), their daughter Agami Chakraborty (23) and their son Priyam Chakraborty (12) of Rangpur district.

According to locals, Ganapathy retired from Rangpur district school on December 31 last year. His daughter, Agami, completed her master’s degree in English this year, while his son, Priyam, is a fifth-grader. Relatives said they became worried after losing contact with the family. Preethilta’s younger sister, Pooja Chakraborty, told The Daily Star that she last spoke to her sister on Thursday afternoon. According to reports, the mobile phones of all four family members were switched off since Thursday night. “After their calls got switched off, we reached Daspara on Saturday night. The main door of the house was locked and all the lights inside were off. Later, the police came, broke the lock and went inside the house, where they found the bodies,” she said.

Preethilta’s younger sister Pooja expressed shock and said the family could not understand who targeted the four men or what could be the motive behind the crime. “I don’t understand who killed my sister and her whole family, or why or when this happened,” she said. “My sister’s husband was a very good man. He had no enemies. They built a new house in Daspara and lived there.”

Ganapathi’s niece Soma Chakraborty also said that she last spoke to her uncle on Thursday afternoon, and rushed to his house immediately after hearing the news of his death on Saturday night. She said, “After hearing the news on Saturday night, I came here and saw his body. The bodies of my aunt, sister and brother were also lying there. My uncle had no enemies. After retiring from school, he started working as a homeopathic doctor.”
