Four sisters turn love for Thai snacks into a growing business

Four sisters have turned a childhood dream of running a business together into a growing popcorn brand inspired by the flavours and snacks they discovered during a family trip to Thailand.

Lisa, Lita, Charlene and Charlie Lertlumprasert had spoken about starting a business together since childhood. Their idea took shape after a 2023 family trip to Thailand, when they returned to the United States with a suitcase filled with snacks that their American friends enjoyed.

A family trip sparks a business idea

The sisters were also frustrated by what they considered limited options for healthier snacks in the US. They began experimenting with homemade recipes and eventually created Party Of, a Thai-inspired popcorn brand based in Washington, DC.

Rather than simply reproducing traditional popcorn flavours, the sisters drew inspiration from Thai tastes and snacks they had grown up enjoying. They also invested in branding as they worked to turn their family idea into a commercial product.

From early setbacks to steady sales

The business received an opportunity to participate in Compass Group’s Retail Incubator Programme, but the sisters faced a major production crisis during the programme.

They managed to overcome the setback and continued developing the brand. Party Of has since grown into a side business generating around $7,000 (approximately Rs 5.8 lakh) in monthly revenue, according to the sisters’ account reported by Times of India.

The sisters say persistence and staying true to the product were important lessons from their journey.

What began as conversations between siblings and inspiration from a family holiday has now become a business that allows all four sisters to work towards a shared childhood ambition.
