New Delhi: Cyber Police Station Central District has exposed a gang of cyber thugs who were extorting thousands of rupees from unemployed youth by showing their dreams of a glittering airport job on social media. The police have arrested six accused in this fraud running in the name of fake airlines 'British Airways' and 'Future Wings Learning Institute'. These include the mastermind of the gang, his 50-50 partner, the developer who created the fake website and three female tele-callers. During the press conference at Central District Police Headquarters, Additional DCP Prashant Chaudhary said that under the supervision of Central District DCP Rohit Rajveer Singh, a special team of SI Ankur Sejwal, Head Constable Harvinder, Head Constable Deepak, Head Constable Jaikishan and Head Constable Deeksha, under the leadership of ACP Operations and SHO Cyber Central, reached the accused on the basis of technical investigation and money trail.
The game of cheating started again in advertising on Instagram
The matter came to light when a young man saw a job advertisement in 'British Airways' at IGI Airport on Instagram on June 10, 2026. The young man filled his information in the advertisement. After this a woman called him and introduced herself as 'Karishma HR British Airways'. The woman asked for Aadhaar card, PAN card, mark sheet and CV from the victim on WhatsApp. After this, he was told that for a job in the airline, a diploma in Aviation Airport Management from 'Future Wings Learning Institute' is necessary. In the lure of the job, Rs 7,000 was deposited from the young man through UPI. As soon as the money was received, the swindlers sent him fake admission slip, NOC and job offer letter. Later, when the victim came to know that there was no such airline named 'British Airways', the phones were found switched off. After this he lodged a complaint against 1930.
Technical investigation reached Noida
Based on the complaint, a case was registered under FIR No. 34/2026, Section 318(4)/319(2)/61 BNS. Cyber police started technical investigation of mobile numbers, IPDR, broadband details, bank accounts, UPI transactions and website registration. While connecting the links of investigation, the police reached Noida, Uttar Pradesh. After this Sandeep Kumar and Akhil Kumar were arrested on 18 August 2026. During interrogation and technical investigation, the entire network was exposed and the website developer and three female tele-callers were also caught by the police.
50-50 partnership fake airline empire
According to the police, 23-year-old Sandeep Kumar was the mastermind of this entire gang. He had previously worked as a tele-caller for fake aviation-job companies. From there he learned the whole game of cheating in the name of job. Later he started his fake business 'Pragati Airways'. After this, he founded 'British Airways' and 'Future Wings Learning Institute' in a 50-50 partnership with 27-year-old Akhil Kumar. The entire game was being run from a rental office in Gaur City Center Mall, Noida.

The gang got the fake website prepared. Website developer Rakesh Kumar was paid for this. Data of unemployed youth was purchased from online job portal. After this, the female tele-caller, posing as the HR of the airline, would call the job-seeking youth. They were told that to secure the job, they would have to deposit admission, registration or aviation course fees of Rs 7,000 to 10,000. As soon as the money was received, fake admission slip certificates and offer letters were handed over.
When complaints increased, the airline itself was changed.
According to the police, the accused used to repeatedly change offices and websites to hide their identity. Mobile phones and SIM cards were also broken or thrown away after use and new numbers were used. When complaints started coming against 'British Airways', the accused laid a new trap and started a new fake website and a new office in the name of 'Shankha Airways' and 'Excellence Learning Institute'.
Six accused in police custody
1.Sandeep Kumar, age 23 years, resident of Greater Noida. Operator of fake companies and mastermind of the gang arrested. 2. Akhil Kumar, 27 years, resident of Moradabad, 50-50 partner of Sandeep and the one who provided bank account to receive the fraudulent amount, arrested. 3. Rakesh Kumar, age 47, resident of Greater Noida West Ghaziabad, developer who created and hosted a fake website. 4.Shweta, a resident of Uttar Pradesh, worked as a tele-caller. 5.Sapna tele-caller used to call the victims with the name 'Karishma'. 6. Sakshi, aged 20 years, resident of Ghaziabad, worked as a tele-caller, was caught.
Police seized digital treasure of fraud
Police have recovered two laptops, eight mobile phones, eight SIM cards and two registers containing data of job seekers from the possession of the accused. WhatsApp chats and other digital evidence have also proved important in the investigation. During the investigation, 10 such complaints have been found on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (NCRP), which are related to 'British Airways' and the mobile numbers and bank accounts used by the accused. Police say that the actual amount of fraud and the number of victims could be much more than this, because due to the small amount cheated, a large number of victims did not complain.
Police's appeal: In the name of job, first consider money as an alarm bell.
Delhi Police has cautioned the youth looking for jobs that they must check the job offers received on social media from official and verified sources. Be very cautious if you are asked for money for online course, diploma, admission or registration in the name of getting a job. In case of any kind of cyber fraud, immediately complain on the National Cyber Crime Helpline 1930.
