Fuel Price Hike: World oil supply at risk again as Iran threatens full Hormuz blockade
Tehran: Iran has issued a renewed threat to block the Strait of Hormuz and escalate pressure across other strategic waterways amid rising tensions linked to the ongoing conflict involving Israel and Lebanon.
According to reports carried by Iran’s Tasnim news agency, Tehran has warned that it could completely shut the Strait of Hormuz and activate additional fronts, including the Bab al-Mandab Strait, following Israel’s intensified military actions in Lebanon.

Iran Suspends Indirect Talks With US
The latest development comes after Iran announced the suspension of indirect communication channels with the United States that were being used for discussions related to a possible peace arrangement.
Iranian officials reportedly said the move was taken in protest against what Tehran described as continued Israeli aggression in Lebanon and Gaza.
According to the reports, Iran and allied groups in the “resistance front” believe the ceasefire conditions in Lebanon have been violated and have demanded a halt to Israeli military operations and withdrawal from occupied areas.
Concerns Over Global Oil Supply
The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most important oil shipping routes, handling a significant portion of global crude exports. Any disruption in the waterway could have major implications for global energy markets, shipping routes and oil prices.
The Bab al-Mandab Strait, another strategic maritime corridor connecting the Red Sea to the Gulf of Aden, is also considered critical for international trade and energy transportation.
Israel-Hezbollah Conflict Escalates
The tensions come as Israel ordered fresh strikes on Beirut’s southern suburbs on Monday following renewed rocket attacks by Hezbollah on northern Israel.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz said the strikes were carried out in response to what they described as repeated ceasefire violations by Hezbollah. Large numbers of residents were reportedly seen fleeing Beirut’s southern suburbs after Israeli warnings of impending attacks.

Regional Situation Remains Fragile
The Middle East situation has continued to worsen amid ongoing military exchanges between Israel and Hezbollah and growing concerns about a broader regional escalation.
Global markets and governments are closely monitoring developments due to fears that any disruption to key maritime routes could affect international trade, energy supply chains and regional stability.
Iran has not officially announced any timeline for possible action regarding the Strait of Hormuz, but the latest statements have intensified concerns over the security situation in the Gulf region.
