Gang-police dispute in Jharkhand Dhanbad: Demand for NIA investigation intensifies
Questions have been raised on the police-administration after the allegations of gangster Prince Khan in Dhanbad, Jharkhand. Babulal Marandi has demanded removal of SSP and NIA investigation into the entire matter. He has made serious allegations against the coal and recovery network.
Dhanbad: A big political and administrative controversy has arisen regarding law and order in Dhanbad district of Jharkhand. The situation has become more sensitive after the video released from abroad by notorious gangster Prince Khan and the serious allegations made in it. In this video, many claims have been made regarding Dhanbad police administration, coal business and alleged extortion network, which has raised questions on the functioning of the entire system.
Regarding this matter, Jharkhand’s Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi has written a letter to Chief Minister Hemant Soren demanding a high-level investigation and administrative action.
Babulal Marandi’s demand: SSP should be removed and NIA investigation should be done.
In his letter, Babulal Marandi has demanded that Dhanbad Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Prabhat Kumar be immediately removed from the post. Also, he has recommended that the entire matter be investigated by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), so that the investigation can be conducted in a fair and transparent manner.
He also said that the investigation of this case should be done under judicial supervision, so that the public trust in law and order remains intact. Marandi has also handed over the related video material in the form of DVD to the Chief Minister along with the letter.
Controversy increased due to gangster Prince Khan’s video
The controversy started when gangster Prince Khan released a video from abroad. In this video, he made many serious allegations against Dhanbad Police, coal mafia network and the alleged extortion mechanism.
After these allegations came to light, the stir in the political circles intensified and the opposition started raising questions on the impartiality of the administrative system.
“Distinction between police and criminals blurred” – Marandi alleges
Babulal Marandi said in his letter that the situation in Jharkhand, especially Dhanbad, is worrying, where the gap between the police and the criminal network seems to be almost disappearing. He alleged that on one hand organized criminal network is active and on the other hand serious questions are being raised on the uniformed system.
According to him, “Today the situation has become such that it has become difficult to differentiate between those collecting money without uniform and those collecting money wearing uniform.”
Allegations of coal business and land grabbing
In the letter, Marandi also mentioned that the video has revealed allegations like land grabbing of the poor, collusion with the coal mining network and alleged extortion from traders.
He said that an atmosphere of fear is being created among businessmen and common citizens in Dhanbad. People are losing faith in law and order, which is a serious sign for the democratic system.
Questions on mining mafia and alleged posting system
Marandi also alleged in the letter that posting of police officers in sensitive districts is allegedly in exchange for huge sums of money. He says that if these allegations are true, then it weakens the credibility of the entire administrative system.
He described it as a “serious sign of administrative corruption and erosion of the system”.
International crime network claims
The letter also claims that the crime network operating in Dhanbad is being operated at the international level. Serious issues like supply of arms from Pakistan have also come to light, which can become a big issue related to national security.
Marandi said that such information had been given to the government earlier also, but till now no concrete and decisive action has been taken.
Political controversy and administrative pressure
This whole matter has created new tension in the politics of Jharkhand. The opposition alleges that the government is not paying enough attention to this serious issue, while the ruling party is calling it a part of political allegations and counter-allegations.
There are already controversies regarding coal mafia and illegal mining in industrial and mining areas like Dhanbad, so this new case is increasing the administrative pressure further.
Law and order and public trust
Experts believe that if such allegations persist without an impartial investigation, it may weaken public trust in the police and administration.
Stable law and order is extremely important in an economically important district like Dhanbad, because this area is the major center of coal production in the country.
