Ghazipur Minor Killed: Political rhetoric intensifies in the case of rape and murder of a girl in Ghazipur.
Lucknow: The case of death of a teenage girl under suspicious circumstances in Ghazipur district of Uttar Pradesh has gained political significance. Samajwadi Party (SP) and Congress cornered BJP on this issue and said that it has no moral right to remain in power. Meanwhile, the police administration has assured of prompt action in the matter. A few days ago, a case of alleged rape and murder of a girl from Vishwakarma community came to light in Kataria village of Karanda police station area of Ghazipur.
Chief of the state’s main opposition Samajwadi Party (SP) and former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has said that he will reach Kataria village on April 29 and meet the victim’s family. Earlier, a SP delegation went to the village where incidents of stone pelting were reported.
Meanwhile, on Saturday, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, in a post on
Gandhi claimed in the same post, “Every time the same face – the victim, Dalit, backward, tribal, poor. Every time the same truth – protection of the criminal, torture of the victim. Every time the same silence – of those in power, who should have spoken.” He said, “The government of a country and state where parents have to beg to get their daughter’s FIR registered has no moral right to remain in power.”
Rahul Gandhi said, “Action should be taken against the guilty police officers, the family should get security, there should be a high-level investigation and immediate justice should be given. Modi ji, Chief Minister, answer – why are daughters so unsafe under your rule? In such circumstances, justice is not sought, it is snatched, and we will snatch it.”
Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra wrote on the same issue on her official ‘X’, “In the case of murder of a girl in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, first the reluctance to register a case, then threats to the victim’s family and spreading anarchy by the bullies shows that atrocities against women are at their peak in the state.” He said, “It has now become an unspoken law under the BJP rule that whenever a woman is tortured, the victim is further tortured.”
Vadra said, “The Prime Minister’s big talk about women is just a show. Be it Unnao, Hathras, Prayagraj or Ghazipur, wherever injustice was done to women, the BJP with its full power stood against the victim and with the oppressor. Women across the country are seeing this darkness.”
Samajwadi Party had issued a statement on Friday saying that SP chief Akhilesh Yadav will visit Kataria village of Ghazipur district on April 29 and meet the family of the victim. Meanwhile, Varanasi Zone’s Additional Director General of Police (ADG) Piyush Mordia told reporters on Saturday that a girl had gone missing on the night of April 14-15 in Karanda police station area of Ghazipur district and her body was found near the bridge of river Ganga, three kilometers away from here, at around 5.30 in the morning. He said that on the basis of the complaint received from the family, an FIR was registered and the main accused was arrested by the police.
Mordia said, “In this regard, senior police and administration officials met the family of the deceased and had a long conversation with her father. He informed them about the entire incident and action was taken on the basis of which he expressed satisfaction.”
The ADG said, “He also requested that the accused be punished as soon as possible by trial in a fast-track court.” He said that after this incident some outsiders tried to create unrest in the village.
