The state government has announced a big relief gift for the economically weak and middle class families living in the coastal state of Goa. In order to balance the household budget of the common people in the era of inflation and to keep the kitchens of poor families completely free from smoke, the government has decided to implement its ambitious plan. Under this scheme, a total of three LPG LPG cylinders will be provided completely free of cost to the eligible cardholder families in the financial year. This welfare step will directly benefit lakhs of families in the state, leading to a significant improvement in the living standards of women, especially in rural and coastal areas. Amount will come into accounts from September 9: ₹3000 will be transferred through DBT. According to the government announcement, the financial benefits of this scheme will be transferred directly to the active bank accounts of the beneficiaries. Under the first phase of the scheme, the process of transferring the fixed subsidy amount of Rs 3000 in lump sum or in installments will be started from September 9 to the accounts of eligible families through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system. The government has clarified that the entire system has been made digital and transparent to eliminate any possibility of middlemen and commissioneering. As soon as the money reaches the account, the beneficiaries will be able to book the cylinder as per their need from the concerned LPG distribution agency and get refill. Who will get benefits under Chief Minister Devdarshan and Antyodaya Scheme? The main objective of this scheme of Goa Government is to provide direct financial help to the families standing at the last rung of the society. The benefits of the scheme will be given mainly to Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) and BPL ration card holders. Additionally, those families whose annual family income falls within the limit set by the government will also be considered eligible for this subsidy scheme. To avail the benefits of the scheme, the beneficiary must be a permanent resident of Goa. It is mandatory to already have a valid domestic LPG connection from an authorized oil company (like Indane, Bharat Gas or HP Gas) in the name of the family. Key Eligibility Criteria and Conditions of the Scheme To maintain transparency in Goa's free LPG cylinder scheme, the Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs has laid down some ground rules. The family's ration card should be active and verified in the digital database of the state Food and Civil Supplies Department. No member of the applicant family should have a commercial gas connection. The domestic gas connection should be registered in the name of the person whose name appears in the ration card as the head or principal member of the family. The bank account should be mandatorily linked to the Aadhaar card (Aadhaar Seeding) so that Rs 3000 sent through DBT can be deposited in the account without any technical interruption. Documents required for application: Keep ready in advance. To avail the uninterrupted benefits of this government scheme, the beneficiaries will have to get verification of some important documents. These include valid Antyodaya or BPL ration card of Goa state, Aadhaar card of the head of the family, current residence certificate (domicile certificate or voter ID), consumer passbook of domestic gas connection (in which LPG ID and consumer number are clearly written), copy of passbook of active bank savings account and mobile number linked to Aadhaar. The bank account is included in the DBT list only if the digital and hard copies of all these documents are found to be correct. How to Apply for Goa Free LPG Gas Cylinder Scheme? The process of availing benefits under this scheme has been made very simple and accessible to the public, so that common citizens can register without any hassle. Contact with Gram Panchayat and Citizen Facilitation Centers: Eligible families living in rural areas can visit their local Gram Panchayat, Municipality office or nearest CSC (Common Service Center) center to get the application form of the scheme. Attachment of documents: Fill all the necessary information asked in the form like ration card number, LPG consumer ID and bank account details carefully and attach the photocopies of all the required documents. Verification at Food and Civil Supplies Department: Submit the filled application form to the Taluka Civil Supplies Inspector of your area or the concerned office, where the officials will digitally tally the data. E-KYC at Gas Agency: Consumers must complete their biometric e-KYC by visiting their respective gas agency so that there is no technical hurdle in getting the gas subsidy directly into the account. New direction to environmental protection and women empowerment: This step of the Goa government is not limited to just financial assistance, but also has deep social and environmental implications. The deadly smoke produced by the use of traditional fuels like wood and coal in rural areas has a detrimental effect on the health of women and children. By getting 3 free cylinders every year, poor families will move completely towards clean energy, which will reduce the cases of respiratory diseases and women will save both time and labor in household work. Helpline and Solution Desk Arrangements If any eligible family does not receive the scheme amount in their bank account after September 9, they can check the status of their payment by visiting the official portal of the Civil Supplies Department. Apart from this, one can register their complaint by calling the toll-free consumer helpline number issued by the state government or by visiting the helpdesk set up in the local taluka office, where the technical glitches will be immediately rectified to ensure benefits.
