Keep these 2 things in mind while buying gold
Buy Certified Gold with BIS Hallmark
While buying gold, one should always buy certified gold with hallmark of BIS i.e. Bureau of Indian Standards. Hallmark gives information about the purity of gold.
The hallmark number may be alphanumeric, such as AZ4524. Be sure to check the hallmark and its information before purchasing.
Cross-check the Gold Price
Before buying gold, its weight and that day's price should be cross-checked with several reliable sources. Gold price information can be obtained from sources like IBJA.
Keep in mind that the prices of 24 carat, 22 carat and 18 carat gold are different. Apart from this, making charges and other charges may also be added to the bill while purchasing jewellery.
4 ways to identify real silver
Magnet Test: Real silver does not stick to a normal magnet. If a silver object sticks strongly to a magnet then its purity may be questioned.
Ice Test: If ice is placed on silver, it can melt relatively quickly, because silver is a good conductor of heat.
Smell Test: Pure silver generally does not have any specific smell. However, determining the purity of silver based on smell alone is not a reliable method.
Cloth Test: Rubbing silver with a white cloth may leave a black mark. But this alone is not a sure way to check purity. To know the exact purity of silver it is better to prefer certified test or hallmarked.
