Mirzapur: Amidst the process of land acquisition for Vindhya Purvanchal Spur Expressway, farmers have received major information regarding compensation. In the meeting held in Chunar tehsil, District Magistrate Pawan Kumar Gangwar clarified that under the rules, there is a provision to give compensation four times the circle rate for the acquired land.
In the meeting, the farmers demanded that the highest circle rate in the area be made the basis while deciding the compensation. Besides, the demand for maintaining service roads, underpasses and irrigation systems was also raised so that access to farms and villages is not affected by the expressway.
Let us tell you that land of about 36 villages of Chunar area is included in the proposed acquisition for this project. According to the administration, the price of land will be decided on the basis of its category and nature.
However, not all farmers are unanimous regarding the expressway. A memorandum signed by more than 3000 farmers was submitted by Bharatiya Kisan Union and Jan Sangharsh Samiti against the project. The protesting farmers have raised the issue of potential impact on fertile agricultural land and the environment.
The administration has said that the demands and objections of the farmers will be investigated at the relevant level. In such a situation, the next action on the compensation rate and other demands of the farmers will now be monitored.
