Good news for pensioners! Now pension will come to account in two installments in UP

Lucknow. There is a relief news for the elderly pensioners of Uttar Pradesh. The method of payment of old age pension has been changed. Now instead of giving three months' pension of Rs 3,000 at once, it will be sent to the bank account of the beneficiaries in two equal installments. Payment will be made directly through DBT.

Lakhs of people in the state are connected to this scheme and funds have started reaching their accounts under the new system. Each installment will be of Rs 1,500 and there will be a gap of about 45 days between the two payments. Information about pension arrival can also be seen on SMS and related portal.

Contribution of governments according to age

Both the central and state governments' share in the quarterly pension for beneficiaries above 80 years of age is Rs 1,500 each. Whereas for beneficiaries below 80 years of age, the state government contributes Rs 2,400 and the central government contributes Rs 600.

You can apply at the age of 60

People aged 60 years or above can apply for old age pension. The annual income limit in rural areas is Rs 46,080, while in urban areas it is Rs 56,460. Documents like Aadhaar, bank passbook, copy of family register, photograph and educational certificate if available are required for the application.

Online application facility

Eligible persons can apply through Integrated Social Pension Portal (SSPY). To get pension, it is necessary to link the bank account with Aadhaar. Application and payment status can also be checked online.
