Good news for railway passengers! Electronic interlocking system will be installed at 13 stations
New Delhi: Indian Railways is continuously taking steps towards modernizing its signaling network. In this series, approval has been given to install state-of-the-art electronic interlocking system at 13 railway stations of Raipur division of South East Central Railway (SECR). About Rs 226 crore will be spent on this ambitious project. Rail operations are expected to become safer, faster and efficient after the new technology is implemented.
Signaling system will change at 13 stations
Under this project, the existing panel interlocking system will be removed and modern electronic interlocking system will be installed in Maroda, Risma, Gundardehi, Latabor, Balod, Kusumkasa, Dalli Rajhara, Gudam, Bhanupratapur, Kevati, Antagarh, Taroki and Raipur store depots of Durg-Taroki railway section. The aim of the Railways is to make the signaling system at these stations more technically efficient, so that trains can be operated without any hindrance.
What is electronic interlocking system?
Electronic interlocking is an advanced signaling technology of railways, which helps in determining safe routes for trains and automatic control of signals. This system ensures better coordination between different tracks and signals, thereby significantly reducing the chances of any collision or operational error. In this technology, most of the processes are automated, which reduces the possibility of human error and increases the efficiency of the entire network.
Passengers will get safe and easy travel
The timely operation of trains is likely to improve after the implementation of the new system. If for some reason a technical problem occurs in the signaling system, with the help of electronic interlocking it can be detected faster and repair will also be possible in less time than before. This will directly benefit passengers as unnecessary delays and operational disruptions in trains are expected to be reduced.
