Patna. There is relief news for the land owners and ryots of Bihar. The state government is working rapidly towards digitalizing land related documents. After the implementation of the new system, people will not have to visit the registration office again and again to get a certified copy of the registry. They will be able to download their registry documents through the online portal and also take a printout of them if needed.
1.70 lakh documents will be uploaded in the first phase
In the first phase of digitization, registry records held between 1990 and 1995 will be made available online. Under this, about 1.70 lakh documents will be uploaded on the portal. The agencies concerned have completed the scanning of the documents and are now matching them with the original records. After completion of verification, these will be made available to the general public.
Old records will also be online
The government’s plan is not limited to new records only. In the second phase, old registry documents from 1908 to 1989 will also be digitalized. With this, people will be able to get important records related to their ancestors’ land sitting at home. The problem of searching old documents for a long time is also expected to end to a great extent.
How to get a copy of the registry now?
In the present system, people have to go to the concerned District Registration Office to get a copy of the registry. There the prescribed fee has to be paid along with the application submission, after which the documents are made available. This process takes both time and additional expense.

After the launch of online facility, people will be able to download their registry documents by visiting the portal from any place. This will not only save time but will also reduce crowding in government offices. Having digital records will keep the documents safe and their availability will also be easy in future.
