Good news for these employees in Bihar, they will get 1 month extra salary!

Patna. Relief news has emerged for the jail warders in Bihar. Patna High Court, while giving its verdict in favor of the employees, has ordered to give additional honorarium equal to one month's salary in every financial year. The special thing is that this benefit will be calculated from 27th August 2015.

Benefit of additional honorarium will be available from 2015

During the hearing of the case, the court made it clear that it is not appropriate to give this benefit to jail warders only from 2019 or 2024. In 2015 itself, the state government had decided to provide additional honorarium equivalent to one month's salary every financial year to non-gazetted employees of police and some other departments.

However, at that time prison warders were not included in the facility. Later, decisions were taken at the departmental level to provide them this benefit, but there was controversy regarding the date of its commencement.

Why did the High Court give this order?

Bihar Jail Men's Association had challenged the decision to give late benefits to jail warders in the court. The association said that while the original policy was implemented in 2015, jail employees should also get its benefits from the same date.

While hearing the case, the single bench of Justice Dr. Anshuman did not accept the arguments of the state government. The court said that no employee can be deprived of his/her due benefits due to technical lapse.

What will be the benefit to the employees?

This decision has paved the way for jail warders of Bihar to get additional honorarium equal to one month's salary every financial year. Since the commencement of benefits is scheduled from 27th August 2015, benefits of previous period may also be availed to the concerned employees.
