Got a dent on the car? Learn home, easy and safe home remedies to repair small car dents at home

Small scratches or dents on your car are a common problem. Going to a garage to remove a dent is costly and time consuming. But did you know? You can remove small car dents yourself by using some simple and easy home remedies. Here are 4 easy solutions to remove car dent at home,

1. Using hot water and a plunger

This is the simplest and most popular solution, which works especially well on plastic or fiber car bumpers.

How to: Boil water well in a pot. Pour this hot water slowly over the dented area. Hot water softens the area. Now place the household toilet plunger (suction cup) firmly on the dent and pull it towards you forcefully. The pressure will straighten the dent out in a flash.

2. Hair dryer and dry ice

This remedy works on temperature difference (cold and hot).

How to: First turn on the hair dryer and blow hot air on the dented area for 1 to 2 minutes. Once the area is well warmed, immediately rub a piece of ‘dry ice’ over it. The sudden extreme cold causes the car’s metal to contract and the dent pops out automatically. (Be sure to wear gloves when using dry ice).

3. Vacuum cleaner and bucket (or plastic cup)

With this solution you can make your own suction device at home.

How to: Drill a hole in the bottom of a small plastic bucket or container big enough for the vacuum cleaner pipe to fit through. Now place this box on the dent of the car so that the dent is completely covered. Start by inserting the pipe of the vacuum cleaner into the hole. The resulting air pressure (vacuum) will pull the dent out.

4. Boiling water (for bumper only)

If the dent is at the very corner of the bumper, the dent will return to its original shape by reaching behind the bumper and pouring boiling water on it and applying gentle pressure from behind.

Important Note: These home remedies are only useful for dents that are small and on plastic or soft metal. If the car is discolored or the dent is very large and on hard metal, it is advisable to have a ‘denting-painting’ done by a mechanic.
