Government becomes strict on cyber crime, instructions to make the state number-1 in cyber security

With the aim of preventing the increasing cyber crimes in Uttar Pradesh and further strengthening the cyber security system, Chief Secretary S.P. A high level review meeting was organized under the chairmanship of Goyal. In the meeting, under the Prime Minister’s ‘PRAGATI’ review, a detailed assessment of the state’s progress on nine priority points related to cyber crime was made. The Chief Secretary directed the officers that well-planned and coordinated efforts should be made to establish the state at first position in the country in the field of cyber security and maintain this achievement.

In the meeting, the Chief Secretary said that to prevent cyber crimes, all concerned departments should take effective action with mutual coordination and prompt and strict action should be ensured against cyber criminals. He directed that cases related to cyber crime should be regularly monitored and timely assistance should be provided to the victims.

Emphasizing on widening the cyber awareness campaign, the Chief Secretary directed that a nodal officer should be nominated in every department, who will coordinate with the Cyber Crime Headquarters and deliver the awareness material to the last person through the department. He also instructed all the departments to issue necessary letters in this regard.

The Chief Secretary directed to immediately issue the notification of Uttar Pradesh State Cyber Coordination Center (UPS4C), to make the e-Zero FIR system operational soon and to make the statewide ‘Operation Cyber Vajra’ more effective. He said that people should be continuously made aware about new methods of digital arrest, fake calls, online fraud and cyber crime through social media, print and electronic media.

In the meeting, Director General of Police (Cyber Crime) B.K. Singh said that the proposal for setting up the State Cyber Coordination Center (UPS4C) is in the final stages and the draft of its notification has been prepared. He said that six out of eight components of S4C are already operational, while work on the remaining two is going on at a fast pace.

He also informed that the e-Zero FIR system being developed for quick and location-neutral FIR of cyber crime is in the final stage. The performance of Uttar Pradesh in operation of grievance redressal, refund and coordination portals is leading in the country.

It was informed in the meeting that under the statewide intelligence based campaign ‘Operation Cyber Vajra’, remarkable success has been achieved at the initial level. At the same time, Uttar Pradesh ranks first in the country in terms of use of CyTrain platform in training policemen for cyber crime investigation.

The Chief Secretary also appreciated the awareness material prepared to increase public awareness about cyber crime in the state and directed that it should be effectively disseminated to various target groups.

Secretary Home Mohit Gupta, Director General of Police (Cyber Crime) B.K. were present in the meeting. Singh, senior officers of Cyber Crime Headquarters and officers of other concerned departments were present.
