‘Gramodayam’ is a special initiative dedicated to the youth of rural India. The objective of this program is to identify budding entrepreneurs, mentor them, impart necessary training and empower them. Under this they will be provided with skills, entrepreneurship related capabilities as per the needs of the industry as well as availability of necessary support mechanisms. By enabling young innovators to transform their ideas into viable enterprises, ‘Gramodayam’ aims to transform local opportunities into effective means of sustainable economic development and job creation.
The program is based on a digital-first hybrid implementation model and aims to ensure its equal reach across all states and Union Territories of the country. Through digital platforms, social media engagement, community outreach as well as grassroots awareness campaigns, aspiring entrepreneurs will be registered and given the necessary guidance for a well-rounded entrepreneurship journey. The journey will include psychometric assessment, counselling, entrepreneurship development training, industry/business-specific training, mentorship as well as necessary support for business establishment. This will provide the participating entrepreneurs with comprehensive guidance and support at every stage from ideation to successful venture building.
Going beyond traditional skill development, the program ‘Gramodayam’ provides a comprehensive support system. These include identification of business opportunities, preparation of business plans, business management training, credit facilities, market linkages, guidance (mentorship) as well as continuous guidance and support (handholding) even after establishment of the business. The program is not limited to creating self-employment opportunities, but is also designed to promote employment generation and community development at the local level through sustainable industry development. Thus, the program will contribute significantly to accelerating inclusive and enabling rural economic development.
All beneficiaries registered under the program will undergo e-KYC verification through NSDC. This will ensure transparency and honesty in the participation of the beneficiaries. In the pilot phase *’Gramodayam’* aims to create around 4,000 rural entrepreneurs and provide them with necessary support over a period of three years through a scalable and phased implementation mechanism.
A key feature of Gramodayam is its comprehensive end-to-end credit facilitation system. Program participants will be provided with expert guidance and assistance in preparing Detailed Project Report (DPR) useful for bank loans. Also, they will be provided with necessary contacts and support to get loan assistance from NABARD supported Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) as well as other financial institutions. Apart from this, assistance in applying for digital loans as well as guidance on related government schemes and incentives will also be provided under this programme. This will facilitate access to formal financial services and help reduce financial barriers to new business establishment.
The program implementation design will be integrated with NSDC’s digital platform, enabling real-time monitoring and tracking of beneficiaries’ progress. It will be monitored at every stage from selection and mobilization of beneficiaries, training, industry establishment and subsequent development. A comprehensive impact assessment framework has been developed to assess the effectiveness of the programme. Under this Key Performance Indicators (KPI) will be monitored regularly. This will include beneficiary participation, gender inclusiveness, training completion rate, findings of certificates, GST and Enterprise (UDYAM) registration, implementation of enterprises as well as assessment of average sales performance based on verified business records.
Through ‘Gramodayam’, NABARD and NSDC have re-emphasized their commitment to promote entrepreneurship-based rural transformation. By coordinating skill development, mentorship, digital innovation, access to financial services and market linkages, the program will seek to create a new generation of rural entrepreneurs. This generation will accelerate inclusive growth, empower local economies and contribute significantly to India’s journey to prosperity and self-reliance. This initiative will also contribute significantly towards the realization of Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ and ‘Vikasit Bharat 2047’.
