Great news for central employees! DA will increase again

New Delhi. A relief news is coming out regarding Dearness Allowance (DA) for central employees. Lakhs of employees waiting for the recommendations of the 8th Pay Commission are expected to get the benefit of DA increase even before that. Amid rising inflation, this decision can have a direct impact on the salaries of employees.

DA may increase from July 2026

Based on media reports and current data, it is expected that from July 2026, the dearness allowance of central employees may increase by about 3 percent. If this increase is implemented then the existing 60 percent DA may increase to 63 percent. However, the final decision to increase DA will be taken by the Central Government only after the inflation data and Cabinet approval.

Increased expectations from AICPI-IW index

Dearness Allowance is calculated on the basis of Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers i.e. AICPI-IW. According to the latest data, this index was 149.1 in March 2026, which increased to 149.9 in April 2026. On the basis of this increase, it is being estimated that there may be further increase in DA of the employees.

Lakhs of employees will get benefits

If the government decides to increase DA, then lakhs of central government employees and pensioners will benefit from it. Increase in dearness allowance will increase the monthly income of employees and they will get financial relief amid rising prices.

Eye also on 8th Pay Commission

Central employees are also waiting for the recommendations of the 8th Pay Commission. Employee organizations have placed many of their demands before the Commission, which include demands like salary hike and pension reform. The major demands of the employees include suggestions like increasing the fitment factor, increasing the minimum wage and including DA in the basic pay.
