Gujarat Titans beat Chennai Super Kings by 8 wickets
CSK vs GT: In the 37th match of IPL 2026, Gujarat Titans have defeated Chennai Super Kings by 8 wickets. Playing first at the MA Chidambaram Cricket Stadium in Chennai, CSK scored 158 runs for 7 wickets in 20 overs. Chasing this target, GT won the match by scoring 159 runs at the loss of 2 wickets in 17.1 overs. After this crushing defeat, Ruturaj Gaikwad has given a big statement. Whom has he held responsible for this defeat? Let us know.
What did Gaikwad say after the defeat, who was blamed?
Chennai Super Kings captain Ruturaj Gayakwad said in the post match conference after this defeat, ‘To be honest, sometimes I don’t like to guess like this but I felt that this pitch was difficult. I was a little late for the Pacers. The pace was not the same and the bounce was going up and down. But if we had not lost too many wickets, we could have reached 170-180. In the last three matches we learned how the game will be. In the last two-three matches we had 60-70% chances, but we did not expect to play like this today. We simply could not adapt ourselves to the situation.
Ruturaj Gaikwad said, “I got off to a really good start, and then I thought to keep up the momentum. But after the wickets fell, I thought to build a partnership, take my time and rotate the strike. Any other pitch, any other day, I would have rotated the strike”. pic.twitter.com/7sTulvHvPg

He further said, ‘In the first timeout, I told Flame that I was trying to be positive and aggressive but many times, the ball would come out with uneven bounce. I told him that I was trying to adapt but it was not possible. You couldn’t judge and you couldn’t expect it to be good. We were sluggish and didn’t start well but we need to do better. I started well, I thought I would maintain the momentum, but then when we were trying to build a partnership, 3 wickets fell. Another wicket fell and I wanted to take my time.
Gaikwad further said, ‘On some other pitch I might have been able to rotate the strike better. Once I got hit I thought I would take my chances and get some momentum back. We were batting really well, if we had not lost two wickets early, Mukesh would have come in the second innings but we lost two wickets early, that is why we chose an impact player.
