Gujarat administration bulldozes alleged gang-linked encroachment worth Rs 1.25 crore

The Jamnagar district administration on Friday launched a demolition drive against an alleged illegal property linked to the notorious Saicha gang in Gujarat’s Bedeshwar area, reclaiming government land that officials said had been encroached upon unlawfully.

According to Jamnagar Superintendent of Police Ravi Mohan Saini, the action was carried out in the jurisdiction of the City ‘B’ Division Police Station as part of ongoing measures against the gang, which faces multiple criminal cases.

The property under demolition reportedly occupied approximately 918 square metres of government land and is estimated to be worth around Rs 1.25 crore.

Administration targets alleged encroachment

Addressing the media, SP Saini said investigations into cases registered against members of the Saicha gang revealed that government land had been illegally occupied for the construction of the property. Following verification by authorities, the district administration initiated demolition proceedings to remove the alleged encroachment and reclaim the land. Heavy police deployment was made at the site to ensure law and order during the operation. Officials said the demolition was carried out under administrative supervision with security arrangements in place.

Gang faces multiple criminal cases

Police officials stated that the Saicha gang has been associated with several serious criminal offences in the district. According to SP Saini, cases registered against gang members include charges related to murder, attempted murder and land grabbing. Authorities said the latest demolition forms part of a broader campaign against individuals and groups accused of illegally occupying government land and engaging in organised criminal activities.

Properties worth Rs 17 crore reclaimed

The Jamnagar police chief said the district administration has taken extensive action against properties allegedly linked to the gang over time. According to officials, government land and illegal structures worth nearly Rs 17 crore have been reclaimed or demolished in operations conducted against the group so far. The administration has maintained that such actions are aimed at curbing illegal encroachments and dismantling assets allegedly connected to criminal networks operating in the district.

What happens next?

Authorities said investigations into cases involving the Saicha gang are continuing, and further action may be taken if additional instances of illegal occupation or unlawful construction are identified. District officials are expected to continue monitoring government land and carrying out enforcement measures against encroachments found during ongoing investigations.

The latest operation marks another step in the administration’s campaign against alleged criminal activities and illegal land occupation in Jamnagar district.
