Gujarat Police will organize the country's biggest hackathon for AI based video analytics and CCTV integration.

  • More than 80 thousand CCTV cameras of the state will be linked on a single network: Prizes worth Rs. 37 lakh will be awarded

Gandhinagar, August 17, 2026 – With the aim of making the state's security system more efficient, accurate and smart, Gujarat Police has organized the country's largest CCTV integration and AI-based hackathon under 'Gujarat Police Innovation Challenge 2026'. This initiative will bring together innovators, startups, technology companies, developers and researchers from across the country to solve the real challenges of smart and proactive policing. State Police Chief Shri G. S. Under the guidance of Malik, this initiative will develop Artificial Intelligence (AI) based solutions against real security challenges.

Main objective of hackathon

The main goal of this hackathon is to create a strong, agile and efficient public safety ecosystem with scalable solutions that can integrate with more than 80,000 cameras in the state. The main objective of this hackathon is to create a secure, fast and efficient public safety ecosystem by integrating CCTV cameras running on different vendors, technologies, VMS platforms and network architectures across various government departments.

This is India's largest hackathon in the field of CCTV integration and AI-based video analytics. In which the winning talented team will get a total of Rs. Cash prizes worth Rs 37 lakh will be given.

The most important thing about the hackathon competition is that, for the first time in the country, the competitors will work on live CCTV camera feeds as per the real situation. Apart from this, capabilities like real-time identification and immediate alert system of suspicious persons, vehicles and unusual activities and automatic number plate recognition, vehicle tracking, watchlist matching and cross-camera search will also be tested.

two stage planning

This competition has been organized in two phases. In which competitors will be selected in two categories under Stage 1-Open Innovation Challenge. Students and small-medium startups will participate in Category-1 and large startups and established technology companies will participate in Category-2.

In Stage-2 i.e. the finale, the top 6 best performing teams from Stage-1 will give demonstrations with real policing scenarios in a live production environment.

This project is being organized in collaboration with the Technology Partnership of i-Hub (Gujarat) and Knowledge Partnership of the country's reputed institutions DA-IICT and National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU).
