Gujarat Titans Knock Out CSK with Thumping 89-Run Victory
Gujarat Titans secured a massive 89-run victory against Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2026 game played at Ahmedabad.
By the Gujarat Titans’ victory, the Chennai Super Kings have been knocked out of the tournament. By this win, the Gujarat Titans retained their second spot in the IPL 2026 Points table.
After being invited to bat first, Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill opened the innings while Mukesh Choudhary opened the bowling attack.
Shubman Gill made a brilliant start, while Sai Sudharsan made a slow but steady start. The duo forged a partnership as the Gujarat Titans scored 62 runs in the power play.
Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings used four bowling options in the power play as they are in the hunt for wickets.
Shubman Gill smashed a 23-ball fifty, and soon the duo forged a 100-run partnership. On the other hand, Sai Sudharsan brought his fifty off 35 deliveries.
Spencer Johnson brought the first breakthrough, dismissing Shubman Gill for 64 runs. He got dismissed on a catch from Shivam Dubey, breaking the 125-run partnership.
Jos Buttler came in to bat at No.3, joining Sai Sudharsan, aiming to post a massive total against five times champions.
The duo forged an 82-run partnership before the dismissal of Sai Sudharsan for 84 runs. He got dismissed on a catch from Matthew Short in long off.
Meanwhile, Jos Buttler smashed his fifty while Rahul Tewatia got dismissed on a runout of a duck.
With Washington Sundar’s dismissal for 7 runs by Mukesh Choudhary, the Gujarat Titans scored 229 runs in their 20-over innings, where Jos Buttler remained unbeaten with 57 runs.
Anshul Kamboj, Mukesh Choudhary and Spencer Johnson bagged one wicket each for Chennai Super Kings.

Mohammed Siraj bagged the wicket of Sanju Samson on a golden duck. He got dismissed on an outside off where Jos Buttler picked the catch after a thick outside edge.
With the dismissal of Ruturaj Gaikwad for 16 runs, CSK lost two wickets for 29 runs. He got dismissed on a shorter delivery and got bowled out.
With the dismissal of Urvil Patel for duck, Mohammed Siraj bagged his third wicket after Prasidh Krishna picked the catch.
Kagiso Rabada bagged his first wicket, dismissing Matthew Short for 24 runs. He got dismissed on a catch by Prasidh Krishna with CSK losing their fourth wicket in the powerplay.
With Kartik Sharma and Dewald Brevis aiming to forge a partnership, the former got dismissed on a runout for 19 runs.
Shivam Dube, who came to bat at no. 7 played a small cameo, scoring 47 runs off 17 deliveries before being dismissed by Rashid Khan.
