Anshul Kamboj became the most expensive bowler in IPL 2026, recorded a shameful record
Delhi: The dominance of batsmen is continuously increasing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and in this era of high run-rate, the challenges for the bowlers have also become equally difficult. Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) fast bowler Anshul Kamboj has come into limelight due to a record which no bowler would like to make. Anshul has become the bowler who has hit the most sixes this season.

In IPL 2026, Anshul Kamboj caught everyone’s attention with his performance in the initial matches. He bowled brilliantly and took 17 wickets in the first nine matches. At that time, he was being counted among the leading bowlers of the season and was also considered a strong contender in the Purple Cap race.
Suddenly the direction of protest changed
However, after this his performance completely changed. In the last five matches, Anshul Kamboj spent 261 runs while bowling 18.4 overs, due to which his economy deteriorated significantly. During this time, in a match against Gujarat Titans (GT), he gave away 56 runs in four overs, which brought his recent form further into question.
Record of hitting most sixes in a season
Amidst this bad phase, an unwanted record has been added to the name of Anshul Kamboj. He has made the record of hitting most sixes in a single IPL season. So far this season, 34 sixes have been hit on his balls. In this matter, he has left behind the record of Rashid Khan of Gujarat Titans, who had hit 33 sixes in the last season.
Apart from this, the name of Mohammad Siraj is also included in this list, on whose bowling a total of 31 sixes were hit in IPL 2022.
Journey from initial success to decline
This season has been full of ups and downs for Anshul Kamboj. In the first nine matches, he took 17 wickets while bowling 31.4 overs and gave only 269 runs, but his rhythm was completely broken in the next five matches, where he gave away 261 runs while taking four wickets.

It is noteworthy that the case of Anshul Kamboj shows how difficult it is to maintain good performance consistently in a big tournament like IPL. The confidence and edge with which he bowled in the initial matches made it seem that he could become the most effective young bowler of this season, but the aggressive attitude of the batsmen and pressure-filled matches exposed his weaknesses. Hitting sixes continuously affects the confidence of any bowler. However, this is not the end of his career, but a phase of learning. If Anshul works on his line-length and strategy, he can make a strong comeback.
