This railway project will be a total of 2117 kilometers long. This train network will connect Kuwait, Saudi Arabia’s Dammam, Bahrain, Qatar, UAE’s Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, and Oman’s Sohar to Muscat. ‘Gulf Railway Authority’ was formed in 2021 to oversee this entire work.

According to government information, passenger trains will run at a speed of about 220 kilometers per hour. Whereas goods carrying trains will run at a speed of 80 to 120 kilometers per hour and diesel will be used for power. GCC countries have set a target that this entire network will be fully operational by December 2030. Officials have also said that as soon as the section between the two neighboring countries is completed, they will be connected immediately.
