Guna train theft: Jewelery worth Rs 40 lakh stolen, investigation started
Gold and silver jewelery worth lakhs of rupees was stolen from the trolley bag of a family traveling in Bina-Gwalior passenger train in Guna district of Madhya Pradesh. After the incident, GRP has registered the case and started investigation.

A family going to attend a wedding ceremony was traveling in Bina-Gwalior passenger train, when taking advantage of the crowd, unknown thieves ran away with precious gold and silver jewelery from the trolley bag. The market value of the stolen jewelery is said to be around Rs 40 lakh.
Taking advantage of the crowd, thieves committed the crime
This theft that took place during railway travel in Guna district has raised questions on the safety of passengers. According to the information, Abid Khan, resident of Narkheda village of Ashoknagar district, was traveling by Bina-Gwalior passenger train with his family. The family was going from Mungawali to Myna to attend a wedding ceremony.
During the journey, the family kept their trolley bag on the upper seat of the train. As the train reached between Retwas and Guna stations, the crowd of passengers in the compartment increased. Meanwhile, some unknown people reached near the upper seat and seeing the opportunity, opened the chain of the bag and took out the precious jewelery kept in it.
Theft exposed before reaching Guna
Some time before reaching Guna station, Abid Khan’s eyes fell on the trolley bag. He became suspicious after seeing the chain of the bag open. When they checked the bag, all the precious jewelery kept in it was found missing. As soon as the incident was known, there was panic among the family members.
The victim’s family immediately contacted the Railway Police and lodged a complaint. GRP has registered a case against unknown accused and started investigation.
Gold and silver jewelery worth lakhs stolen
According to the complaint, the thieves took away a large quantity of gold and silver jewelery from the bag. The stolen items included six gold necklaces, two bangles, four bracelets, two chains, six rings, earrings and tops. Apart from this, four pairs of silver anklets, hand flower and toe ring were also stolen.
The family claims that more than 25 tola gold and about 1.25 kg silver jewelery was stolen. According to the current market price, their price is said to be more than Rs 40 lakh. However, in the police records, the value of the jewelery has been recorded as around Rs 16 lakh based on the old rates.
Police examining CCTV footage
According to GRP station in-charge, a special team has been formed to investigate the matter. CCTV footage of the railway stations between Guna and Bina is being collected. Police are trying to find out at which station the suspects involved in the theft boarded the train and where they got off.
Investigating officials believe that the accused who carried out the incident may be part of a professional gang who target passengers in crowded trains.
Travelers advised to be cautious
Railway Police has appealed to the passengers to always keep valuables with them during the journey and not to leave them on seats or luggage racks unattended. Officials say that criminals look for such opportunities in crowded trains.
At present, the police is investigating the case from every aspect and information is being collected at technical and local level to identify the accused. After the incident, the discussion regarding railway security arrangements in the area has also intensified.
