MUMBAI:
Mumbai Police have intensified their investigation after gunmen opened fire at actor Tiger Shroff’s BMW in the Juhu area on Sunday evening. The actor escaped unhurt, but his driver and another person were injured in the incident, which has raised fresh concerns over security in the film industry.
According to preliminary information, three men arrived on a motorcycle as Shroff was leaving after playing football. Two of them allegedly opened fire while the third waited on the motorcycle to help them escape. Police reports said four rounds were fired at the vehicle. Investigators are examining CCTV footage and other evidence to identify the attackers and reconstruct their movements before and after the shooting.
Police have detained one person for questioning as part of the investigation. The authorities are also examining a social media claim attributed to individuals linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, which reportedly threatened people in the film industry over their association with actor Salman Khan. The authenticity of the claim and its connection, if any, with the shooting remain subjects of investigation.
The incident has prompted heightened attention to security arrangements around film personalities. Police are examining whether the attack was intended to intimidate Shroff or was connected to a wider threat against members of the entertainment industry. Investigators are also looking into the possible motive and the identities of those who planned and carried out the firing.
The shooting comes amid continuing concerns over threats and extortion attempts targeting prominent figures. Police have not yet publicly established the full motive behind the attack. The investigation is continuing, with officers pursuing leads from CCTV footage, witness accounts and digital evidence.
