Halle Berry Files to Restore Child Custody Agreement After Clashes With Ex-Husband

Halle Berry seeks to restore custody with ex Olivier Martinez three years after split. The actress also wants Martinez in court-mandated therapy and her tie-breaking authority reinstated.

According to documents obtained by PeopleBerry wrote in the filing that Martinez has attempted to “align Maceo with him and against me in many areas of our child’s life and activities.” She claims that Maceo would be “angry and combative” after coming home from spending custodial time with Martinez.

Berry also claims in the filing that Martinez repeatedly refused to allow interventions from her side regarding Maceo’s allegedly concerning behaviour in school. “While I am attuned to Maceo’s thoughts and feelings and encourage an open dialogue, I do not agree that a ten-year-old should be permitted to make decisions regarding his education, health, extracurricular activities, and general welfare,” she wrote.

The documents reveal Berry’s claims about Martinez’s “active attempts to influence Maceo’s teachers and therapist to view me as a risk to our child.”

Halle Berry’s custody dispute with Olivier Martinez goes beyond their latest court filing

The latest development comes after Martinez accused Berry of abusing their 12-year-old son, Maceo. In a counter-response, Martinez filed a request to the court to deny Berry’s request. Earlier this week, he obtained a temporary restraining order against Berry. In the order, Martinez claimed that Maceo told him about being physically abused by Berry while playing a video game.

Berry and Martinez started their relationship in 2010, before tying the knot in 2013. After filing for divorce in 2015, it was finalized in 2023. Berry filed for sole custody of Maceo after the couple’s co-parenting sessions fell apart.

Most recently, Berry starred in Netflix’s A Different World and is set to appear in Suzanne Farwell’s upcoming rom-com, Otherwise Engaged.
