Mumbai: Following the impressive box-office performance of ‘Hanuman Ansh’, filmmaker Vishal Chaturvedi has announced his next project, ‘Rambola’.
Based on the life and legacy of Mahakavi Goswami Tulsidas, the film will chronicle the journey of the revered poet and saint whose literary works continue to hold a significant place in Indian culture.
Announcing the project on Instagram, the makers wrote, “With Bappa’s Blessings, on this auspicious day, with humility and gratitude, we bring to you RamBola, the immortal story of Goswami Tulsidas. Written and directed by Vishal Chaturvedi. Produced by Mahaveer Jain, Vishal Chaturvedi, Amit Upadhyay & Raghuvendra Singh. Presented by Mahaveer Jain Films.”
Mahakavi Goswami Tulsidas was a revered 16th-century Vaishnava saint and poet. He is best known for composing the Awadhi epic Ramcharitmanas, a devotional retelling of the Ramayana, as well as the widely revered Hanuman Chalisa.
He also authored several acclaimed works, including Vinaya Patrika, Kavitavali, Gitavali and Dohavali.
Rambola will mark Vishal Chaturvedi’s next venture into devotional cinema after Hanuman Ansh, which explored the life and spiritual journey of Neem Karoli Baba.
Inspired by the book Divine Detour: That Changed My Life, Hanuman Ansh was released in theatres on August 7.
Despite a slow start at the box office, the film gained momentum in its second week and has now surpassed the Rs 200 crore mark in its sixth week.
Starring Shobhinaw Satyaa and Chandan Anand, Hanuman Ansh follows Lakshmi Narayan, a young boy who embarks on a quest for God after his mother’s death.
Set in pre-Independence India, his journey takes him across North India and eventually leads to his transformation into Neem Karoli Baba.
