Cabinet Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian on Wednesday hit back at claims that he had left Punjab and gone to America. Regarding the recent raid by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) at his nephew's house, Mundian said that during this action a widow, children and a pregnant woman were harassed. He said that Punjabis cannot be intimidated by ED raids or threats. He said, “We are Punjabi and we are not afraid.”
Addressing the media, Cabinet Minister and AAP Punjab leader Hardeep Singh Mundian responded to Ravneet Singh Bittu's comments by saying, “I am holding this press conference in Chandigarh, not in America.” He said that Bittu was claiming since Wednesday that he had gone to America. He said, “After getting his ticket cancelled, it seems that Ravneet Singh Bittu has started a travel agency on Samrala Road and has booked tickets for me and my nephew to America.”
Younger daughter was harassed and bullied
The Cabinet Minister also raised questions on the manner in which the ED conducted the raid at his nephew's house. He said the family has already faced a tragedy. After which his nephew came to Ludhiana along with his children and started a business to support the family. Hardeep Singh Mundian said, “During the ED search, a widow and her young daughter were harassed and threatened.”
He said that the search continued from 11 am to 3 pm and the children were interrogated as to why they stayed with them. He said, “The officials asked the family to convey a message to me that I should leave AAP and my nephew should stop supporting me because AAP is a 'wrong party'. This raises questions whether the purpose of this action is only to investigate or to create political pressure.”
The little girl kept crying hungry for hours: Mundiya
Hardeep Singh Mundian told that during the raid, a little girl kept crying hungry for hours and the one month old newborn baby was not even allowed to be fed milk. He asked, “My nephew's pregnant wife was made to stand for three to four hours without being allowed to sit. When the officers left, the family asked for a written record of the things recovered from the house. On this, the officers gave a document in which it was written that apart from old household items, nothing had been recovered. If nothing was recovered then why was the family harassed for three to four hours?”
