The Haryana State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (SV&ACB) has arrested a veterinary doctor posted in Kaithal while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 28,000 from a dairy owner.
The accused, identified as Dr. Ankur Sharmaa veterinary doctor with the Animal Husbandry Department in Kaithal, was caught red-handed during a trap laid by the SV&ACB's Kaithal unit.
According to the Bureau, an FIR (No. 17 dated July 30, 2026) has been registered against the accused under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, and Section 308(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, at the State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau Police Station in Ambala.
According to the complaint, the complainant had taken a bank loan for his buffalo dairy and had also insured the animals. The complainant alleged that Dr. Sharma demanded Rs 30,000 for issuing the mandatory health certificate and verification report required by the bank after inspecting the buffaloes.
The doctor allegedly also threatened to recommend cancellation of the insurance policy and closure of the dairy if the bribe was not paid. The amount was later negotiated down to Rs 28,000.
After verifying the complaint, the Vigilance Bureau organized a trap operation. The accused was apprehended while allegedly accepting the bribe in the presence of independent witnesses. Officials said the entire operation was carried out transparently and in accordance with legal procedures.
Further investigation into the case is underway.
The SV&ACB has appealed to the public to report any instance of bribery or corruption involving government officials. Complaints can be lodged through the Bureau's helpline 1064 or WhatsApp number 94178-91064with assurance that the identity of complainants will be kept confidential.
