Lifestyle Desk:- Oil bottle is used repeatedly while cooking in the kitchen. In such a situation, some drops of oil fall outside the bottle and gradually its surface starts becoming sticky. Sometimes particles of dust and spices also stick to it. Due to this, the bottle looks dirty and feels greasy even when touched. The greasiness of the oil is not easily removed with water alone. But the oil bottle can be easily cleaned with the help of some things present in the house. Let us know some easy methods.
Hot water and dishwash liquid will do the trick
If there is a light layer of oil on the bottle, the easiest solution is warm water and dishwashing liquid. Take lukewarm water in a bowl and add a little dishwash liquid to it. Now soak a soft sponge or cloth in it and clean the outer surface of the bottle thoroughly. After the oiliness is removed, wet the cloth with clean water and wipe the bottle again. Finally, dry it thoroughly with a dry cloth.
Remove grime with baking soda
If the oil layer is very old then baking soda can be used. Make a thick paste by mixing water with some baking soda. Apply this paste on the sticky area of the bottle and leave it for a few minutes. After this, rub gently with a soft sponge and clean it with a wet cloth. Keep in mind that avoid rubbing the glass bottle too hard, especially if it has a print or label on it.
Vinegar can also help
A solution can be prepared by mixing equal amounts of white vinegar and water. Apply it on a cloth and wipe the outer surface of the bottle. After this, wipe the bottle again with a clean water-soaked cloth and dry the bottle. While using vinegar, avoid mixing it with any other cleaning chemical.
Lemon and Dishwash Method
The acidic properties present in lemon can help in cleaning greasy surfaces. Prepare a solution by mixing a little dishwash liquid and lemon juice in a cup of water. With the help of a cloth or sponge, apply this mixture on the bottle and clean it gently. After this, wipe it with clean water and dry the bottle with a dry cloth.
The easiest way to keep the bottle clean
Don't wait for the oil bottle to get too dirty. If a drop of oil appears on the bottle after cooking, then wipe it immediately with a dry or slightly wet cloth. Also clean the lid of the bottle and the area around the mouth regularly, because excess oil can accumulate here. If the bottle is used daily, it would be helpful to thoroughly clean its outer surface at least once a week.
Keep these things in mind
Do not use very hot water when cleaning an oil bottle, especially if the bottle is glass. Sudden temperature changes can damage the glass. Similarly, do not use a very rough scrubber on a steel or glass bottle, as it may scratch the surface.
If the layer of oil on the bottle is very thick, first absorb the excess oil with a paper towel or old cloth. After this clean with dishwash and water. This will make cleaning easier. A little regular cleaning habit can keep the oil bottle clean and shiny for a long time. There is no need for expensive cleaning products for this.
