New Delhi: Amid the action of Delhi Police against organized criminal gangs and armed miscreants in the capital, the team of North District Operations Cell has arrested a shooter allegedly associated with Gogi-Deepak Boxer gang in Wazirabad area after an encounter. According to the police, the accused opened fire on the police team during the siege. In retaliation the police also opened fire. During this time, a bullet fired by the accused hit the bulletproof jacket of the police officer, but because of the jacket the officer remained safe.
During the press conference at Delhi Police Headquarters, DCP Niharika Bhatt said that the arrested accused has been identified as Mohit alias KD (31), resident of Naya Bans, Gannaur, Sonipat, Haryana. Two pistols, four live cartridges and a stolen motorcycle have been recovered from his possession. The recovered motorcycle is said to be linked to a theft case registered in Indrapuri police station area.
The accused had reached the operation bike at midnight
According to the police, Head Constable Ashish had received important information through a reliable source about the activities of the accused and his presence in Delhi. Based on the information, a joint team of STF and Anti-Narcotics Cell was formed. The team laid siege to Wazirabad area on the intervening night of 23/24 September. At around 1:40 in the night, the police team saw the suspect coming on a motorcycle. The team signaled him to stop, but according to the police, the accused tried to run away and then opened fire on the police party. The accused fired two rounds, in response to which the police team fired three rounds. During the encounter, a bullet hit the bulletproof jacket of a police officer. The jacket stopped the impact of the bullet and the officer was not injured. After this the team controlled the accused.
There were preparations to commit a serious crime
During preliminary interrogation, police have revealed that Mohit has a criminal record in Haryana and is allegedly associated with the Gogi-Deepak boxer gang. According to the police, the accused had come to Delhi in connection with an alleged plan to murder a person associated with the Tillu Tajpuria gang. Investigation revealed that the accused was to meet another associate in Wazirabad area. The associate is said to be aware of the alleged target's whereabouts and his daily routine. According to the police, the two were then planning to head towards the spot where the alleged target was likely to be out for a morning walk. However, the police have termed this entire criminal conspiracy as part of the preliminary investigation and further investigation is going on in the matter.
Criminal cases have already been registered
According to police records, two criminal cases have been registered against Mohit alias KD in Ganaur police station in the year 2023. These cases are said to include charges related to criminal intimidation and arson along with sections related to attempt to murder.
Recovery of weapons and bike
The police team has recovered two pistols and four live cartridges from the possession of the accused. Apart from this, a stolen motorcycle has also been recovered. According to the police, the recovered weapons, cartridges and other evidence are being seized as per the legal process and being sent for forensic investigation. In this matter, a case has been registered in Wazirabad police station under FIR number 444/2026, section 221/132/109 (1) BNS and 25/27 Arms Act. Police are interrogating the accused and investigating his network, source of weapons, possible associates and other aspects related to the purpose of coming to Delhi.
Police team involved in the operation
This action was taken under the supervision of DCP North Niharika Bhatt, under the guidance of Additional DCP-I Pukhraj Kamal Gupta and Additional DCP-II Ram Dalesh Meena and under the leadership of ACP Operations Special Dhattarwal. The team included Inspector Ashish Dubey, SI Jagbir, SI Parveen, ASI Rajeev, HC Ashish, HC Manoj, HC Mukul, Constable Nishant, HC Saurav and Constable Dipanshu. It can be said that there was an intention to commit an incident but the police siege in Wazirabad changed the climax of the entire story. The bullet was fired, the jacket saved the life and finally the alleged shooter was caught by the police.
