‘He is senior, has full right to say bitter things’, Abhishek said on Kalyan Banerjee’s statement

Trinamool Congress national general secretary and MP Abhishek Banerjee reacted to the statement of senior party leader Kalyan Banerjee. On Thursday, MP Kalyan Banerjee had given a 24-hour ultimatum to party supremo Mamata Banerjee. He had said that Mamata Banerjee will have to choose between her nephew Abhishek and me.

 

Kalyan Banerjee had even called Abhishek arrogant. Now Abhishek Banerjee reacted to his statement. Abhishek Banerjee says that Kalyan Banerjee can speak against him. They have seen me grow up. I have no bitterness towards him. This statement of Abhishek Banerjee is being seen as an initiative for reconciliation.

While leaving Mamata Banerjee’s Kalighat residence, when journalists asked Abhishek Banerjee about Kalyan Banerjee’s statement, he said, ‘Kalyan Banerjee has seen me grow up. He is a senior leader of the party. He has every right to say some harsh things to me. There is no reason to create unnecessary controversy on this.

Kalyan Banerjee did not attend the meeting

TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee called a meeting of party leaders on Friday. Kalyan Banerjee did not attend this. However, Abhishek Banerjee, Rajya Sabha MP Derek O’Brien, Madan Mitra, Shobhandev Chattopadhyay and party spokesperson Kunal Ghosh did participate.

 

Apart from being an MP from Shrirampur seat of West Bengal, Kalyan Banerjee is also a senior lawyer. He used to represent Abhishek Banerjee in legal matters in the courts. However, on Thursday he distanced himself from all matters related to Abhishek Banerjee and said, ‘His (Abhishek Banerjee) arrogance has crossed all limits. If he remains in the party then I will have to think whether I should continue.

Kalyan Banerjee, a strong supporter of Mamata

Kalyan Banerjee is known as a dynamic leader. Even after the defeat in the assembly elections, he supported the party everywhere. He condemned the rebels for the rebellion and was seen standing firmly with Mamata Banerjee. Kalyan Banerjee is the lawyer in the petition challenging the appointment of the Leader of Opposition in the Assembly. But suddenly his displeasure towards Abhishek Banerjee surprised everyone.
