Relief to Salman Khan in ‘Black Deer’ controversy? Delhi High Court issued notice

Tezzbuzz Desk – The ongoing dispute between Bollywood superstar Salman Khan and the film ‘Black Deer: The Battle for Legacy’ has now taken a legal turn. Hearing the petition filed by the actor, Delhi High Court has issued notice to the film producers and fixed the next hearing of the case on June 19.

Salman Khan, in his petition filed in the court, has alleged that his identity, image and public persona have been used in the film without permission. The actor claims that the film’s promotional material and trailer depict a character whose style, attire and personality are very similar to him.

During the hearing, the lawyer appearing for Salman Khan told the court that some scenes shown in the film’s poster and trailer use symbols associated with the actor’s public image. He said that this could create confusion among the audience and is a violation of personality rights.

The petition also states that the story of the film is allegedly inspired by incidents that have been linked to Salman Khan’s name in the past. The actor’s stand is that such a portrayal could misrepresent the facts and harm his reputation.

Considering the seriousness of the matter, Delhi High Court has sought answers from the film producers. Now in the next hearing to be held on June 19, it will be clear what stand the court takes regarding the release and promotion of the film.

At present, this case seems to be sparking a new debate regarding personality rights and use of celebrity images in the film industry.
