Heavy firing at Times Square in America, chaos created

There was chaos in New York, America, when rapid firing took place one after the other in Times Square on Thursday afternoon. Police have said that the suspect was immediately arrested. A video of this incident has also surfaced, in which it can be seen that people are running here and there after the firing.

The New York Fire Department said one person was taken to the hospital, but no further information was available. The incident occurred around 3:40 pm local time on Thursday, when people gathered on the streets of Lower Manhattan to celebrate the victory of the National Basketball Association (NBA) champion New York Knicks. Officials said around 10,000 police officers were deployed for the event.

The New York Police Department (NYPD) said the area was packed with people attending the parade, which has been in the city since the tournament began last week. In the video surfaced on social media, the sound of bullets is heard, after which the people present in Times Square started running to save their lives. As soon as the sound of firing spread throughout the area, tourists and other people nearby also started running here and there in search of a safe place.

While the suspects were running on the road, people were seen running here and there to save their lives. Policemen already patrolling the busy tourist area were chasing them. The shooting took place just meters away from a parked police vehicle.

The development comes days after a separate shooting incident in Times Square on June 16, when celebrations following the New York Knicks’ NBA championship win after a gap of 53 years turned chaotic. Within hours of the victory, videos emerged of gunfire in a crowded area, sending hundreds of people running here and there to save their lives. In another video, police were seen recovering a loaded gun from a man.

In a video, at least seven gunshots can be heard near the intersection of 42nd Street and Broadway, a key location where scores of people gathered for hours to celebrate the victory on Saturday night. A 17-year-old boy was injured in the shooting and was taken to hospital in a police vehicle.
