Communal tension and violence in the southern part of the neighboring country Nepal has taken a very frightening form. In view of the increasing tension on Nepal's border with India's Bihar state, security agencies on the Indian border have also been put on high alert. To prevent the situation from getting completely out of control in Sunsari and Siraha districts of Nepal, the administration has taken strict steps and imposed indefinite curfew in many areas.

This entire controversy started on July 26 in Kaptanganj area of ​​Devangganj Rural Municipality of Sunsari district. In the holy month of Sawan, Hindu devotees were going towards Kaptanganj Chowk with water from Kosi Barrage and on the way, DJs were playing songs at high volume. Some people of the Muslim community objected to this, after which a minor altercation between the two sides soon turned into a violent clash.

A young man died in police firing

The tension increased so much that huge crowds armed with sticks and weapons from both sides came face to face. The police had to use force to control the situation, during which a young man named Om Prakash Mehta died in police firing. After this incident, violence flared up further, due to which the situation became serious in many parts of Sunsari's Inruwa, Duhabi, Bhokraha and Dewanganj and also in many parts of Siraha district. The administration has imposed indefinite curfew in Siraha from Thursday afternoon.

High-level meeting of the government and tight security arrangements

In view of the increasing situation and the possibility of violence spreading to other areas, a high-level meeting of the National Security Council (NSC) was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Balen Shah. In the meeting, serious discussions were held regarding the overall security of the country and maintaining communal harmony. Clear instructions have been given to the security forces and local administration to deal strictly with those violating the rules, so that peace and order can be maintained in the border areas.
