In Bihar’s Katihar district, the two wives of a housing assistant suddenly came face to face. They first had an argument, and then quickly turned to attacking each other with sticks. Caught in the middle of this high-voltage drama, the husband tried to calm them down, but neither was willing to relent.
At the time of the incident, a crowd of people had gathered at the Katihar Collectorate for work. Chaos ensued. Security personnel intervened and somehow separated the two women. It is reported that Housing Assistant Ranjit Paswan is a resident of Pothiya in the Phalka police station area and is currently posted in Katihar.
Second wife alleges he was a bachelor at the time of marriage
During the commotion, the second wife, who arrived from Barsoi with her son, made serious allegations before the media. The woman said that she was married to Ranjeet Paswan about 14 years ago. Four years ago, the two also had a court marriage and they also have a son. The woman alleges that at the time of marriage, Ranjeet had declared himself unmarried. He had said that he had no wife. Trusting him, I got married in court. Later, I came to know that he was already married and was also the father of three children.
The second wife further stated that Ranjit was now living with his first wife and was not providing any support to her or their son. She said, “I also want my rights. What is my son’s fault? He has a government job and is making us run around.” She went to the Collectorate to raise this issue, where she ran into her first wife, and a dispute ensued.
First wife retorts, she is the one having the illicit affair
Meanwhile, the first wife also broke her silence. She accused the second woman of having an extramarital affair and breaking the marriage. The first wife stated that she had been married to Ranjit for several years and that they had three children. She stated that her husband regularly provided household expenses and lived with the family.
The first wife alleged that the second woman was pressuring her husband and demanding a share of government housing and benefits. The two women exchanged verbal abuse and even fought. Ranjit stood in the middle and tried to reason with them, but his efforts were in vain. After considerable effort, the employees and security personnel at the Collectorate calmed them down and advised them to take the matter to the police station.
The police explained to both of them and sent them away, the department asked for a report.
Upon receiving the information, the city police station arrived at the Collectorate and took Ranjeet and the two women to the station. After a lengthy discussion, the police counseled both parties and sent them home. The police stated that if either party has any complaints, they can file a family lawsuit in court. Meanwhile, this incident has caused a stir within the department. Senior officials have requested an explanation from Ranjeet regarding the entire matter.
