Himachal News: To further the development works in Shimla, the capital of Himachal Pradesh, Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of three projects worth Rs 108.16 crore. These projects include strengthening of the historic Ridge Ground, parking and shopping complex near the old bus stand and residential complex for Shimla Municipal Corporation employees.
The Chief Minister said that Shimla is recognized as a major tourist destination in the country and the world. In such a situation, along with maintaining the natural beauty of the city, strengthening the basic facilities is the priority of the state government. These projects are expected to provide better facilities to local people, shopkeepers, people involved in transport business and tourists.
₹66.81 crore spent on strengthening the ridge ground
Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu inaugurated the improvement and stabilization works carried out at a cost of Rs 66.81 crore at the historic Ridge Ground in Shimla. The main objective of these works is to solve the problem of subsidence of the ridge plain and to strengthen the area.
Ridge Ground is one of the major tourist destinations of Shimla. A large number of tourists and local people come here. Strengthening this area is expected to help in its protection and long-term maintenance.
Parking and shopping complex built near the old bus stand
A parking and shopping complex has been built near the old bus stand near Gurdwara Sahib in Shimla at a cost of Rs 6.85 crore. The Chief Minister inaugurated it.
This facility is expected to benefit local shopkeepers and people involved in transportation business. Also, it can also help in reducing the parking problem in the area. Considering the movement of tourists and number of vehicles in Shimla, expansion of parking facilities is considered important.
Residential complex will be built for Municipal Corporation employees
The Chief Minister laid the foundation stone of the residential complex to be built for the employees of Shimla Municipal Corporation in the cattle shelter area near Baluganj. Rs 34.50 crore will be spent on this project.
The objective of this residential complex is to provide better residential facilities to the employees of the Municipal Corporation. After the completion of the project, the employees will be able to get arranged accommodation. This is also expected to help in improving the services related to Municipal Corporation in the city.
Work to double lane circular road continues
The Chief Minister said that the circular road is being double laned to reduce the traffic problem in Shimla. This can help provide relief to local residents and tourists from traffic jams.
Vehicle pressure increases in Shimla during tourist season and holidays. In such a situation, by increasing the road capacity and improving the traffic system, the convenience of commuting in the city can be improved.
The Chief Minister also informed that a modern shopping complex is being built in the vegetable market area at a cost of Rs 600 crore. Apart from this, underground utility ducts are being constructed from Chhota Shimla to CTO at a cost of Rs 150 crore. These projects aim to strengthen the city's infrastructure.
Targeted at previous government also
Taking aim at the previous BJP government, Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu said that earlier the foundation stones of many projects were laid, but adequate budget provision was not made for them. He claimed that the present Congress government has provided the necessary budget to complete these projects.
The Chief Minister said that the government is paying attention to the systematic development of Shimla. Under this, efforts are being made to provide better civic facilities to the local people and tourists while preserving the natural beauty of the city.
Emphasis on improving tourism and civic facilities
