Hormuz To West Bank: US-Iran conflict deepens, 7-month-old Palestinian child dies due to Israeli soldier’s bullet
Hopes for peace in the Middle East once again seem to be fading and the entire region is currently going through a very serious and sensitive phase. On one hand, the situation of military confrontation between America and Iran is becoming increasingly serious, while on the other hand, a very painful incident from the West Bank has created new anger in the entire region. The situation has become more complicated after the US military shot down an Iranian drone in the Strait of Hormuz and the death of an innocent child in the West Bank.
Major action of US Army in Strait of Hormuz
The US Central Command (CENTCOM) has issued an official statement saying that US security forces deployed in the Middle East shot down two of Iran’s ‘one-way attack drones’ (suicide drones) in the air. America claims that these Iranian drones were posing a major threat to international ships and maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz.
According to the US military:
Their troops deployed in the area are fully prepared and have been put on ‘high alert’ to give a befitting reply to any new security threat.
After this action, surveillance on global trade routes has been made more stringent.
Heartbreaking tragedy in the West Bank: 7-month-old baby dies
An incident has come to light from the Hebron area of the occupied West Bank amid military confrontations which has shocked human sensibilities. Here a 7-month-old Palestinian baby was killed in the firing by Israeli soldiers on a civilian’s car. Sam Fahad Abu Haikaldied.
"The soldier saw my family clearly"
The child’s father Fahad Abu Haikal said while crying, "The soldiers signaled us to stop the car and I immediately stopped the car completely. The soldier was just 10 meters away from us. It was broad daylight and even the glass of the car was not black. He saw me, my wife and my children very clearly. Despite this he suddenly started firing directly. A bullet tore through my hand and went straight to the face of my 7-month-old son."
The child’s mother has also been seriously injured in this indiscriminate firing, who is currently undergoing treatment in the hospital.
Confidence in Israeli army’s cleanliness and investigation
After being surrounded from all sides on this tragic incident, Israel Defense Force (IDF) has presented its stand. The Army has expressed ‘deep sorrow’ over this entire matter.
According to the IDF:
The soldiers on duty were under the illusion that the vehicle was moving very fast towards them and could attack. It was out of self-defense that the soldier opened fire.
However, in the initial investigation it has become completely clear that the people in the car were innocent civilians and had nothing to do with any suspicious activity.
The child’s father has rejected this explanation, saying that the matter cannot be swept under the rug by simply calling it a ‘mistake’. He has demanded strict legal action and accountability against the soldier who opened fire.
