Horrific incident of landslide in Wayanad: CM holds emergency meeting, relief and rescue operations continue
Wayanad. A horrific incident of landslide occurred in Wayanad, Kerala. Regarding this, Kerala Chief Minister VD Satheesan held an emergency meeting on Tuesday. State Agriculture Minister T. Siddiqui, who is also from Wayanad, also attended this meeting. In the meeting, the situation of the landslide at the Wayanad end of the Anakkampoyil-Kallady Tunnel Road Project and the relief operations were reviewed. After the landslide incident, Chief Minister VD Satish has given instructions to carry out relief and rescue operations on a war footing. He met Revenue Minister A.P. Anil Kumar and Agriculture Minister T. Siddiqui were asked to immediately reach Wayanad and monitor the relief and rescue operations.
This landslide incident occurred at Kaladi near Meenakshi Bridge, which is close to the tunnel construction site. A large pile of soil excavated at the construction site collapsed during the landslide, further exacerbating the situation. Following continuous heavy rainfall over the past 24 hours, loose soil caved in and caved in, burying parts of the site.
Relief and rescue operations continue
After this landslide incident, relief and rescue work is going on. Fire and rescue service personnel, police and other emergency agencies have started relief and rescue operations. A team of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has also been sent to the spot to help in the rescue operations.
